Religious People, Divided into 4 groups

Religious People, Divided into 4 groups

Peace be with the universe. In this article, we will discuss the meaning or wisdom that I can understand from three verses of the holy book, two verses from the Qur’an and one verse from the Bible, where according to what I understand the meaning of these two verses about religious people, happy reading.

First and second verses

 وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ قَالُوا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ

“And when it is said to them, “Do no harm on earth!”  They answered, “In fact, we are actually the people who made improvements.”  ( Al-Baqarah: 11)

و إذا (And if) قيل (it is said) لهم (to them) لا تفسدوا (do not do damage) في الأرض (on earth) قالوا (they say) انما نحن (actually we) مصلحون (those who do damage) في الأرض (on earth) قالوا (they say) انما نحن (actually we are) مصلحون (those who do repairs).

 أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

“Remember, they really do the damage, but they don’t realize.”  (Al-Baqarah: 12)

The word ألا which means ‘remember’, إنهم هم which means ‘indeed they are’, المفسدون means ‘who does the damage’.

Discussion in terms of meaning or wisdom from the three verses above

Basically, all human beings want to do good, want to be a good person, want to be better.  It is easy to be a good person at first glance, but in reality, it is not that easy. People have a religion or believe in doctrine or belief is to find a way so that their desire to do good is directed by the teachings of religion or beliefs that they believe are toward the good that is really good and the good that is really true.l

Religious people or who believe in a belief are very eager and always intend that their actions are solely because of God and for the sake of God, as offerings to God, as a form of worship to God, as an expression of the true devotion to God, as sacrifice  to God, et cetera.

In the first and second verses, it is described that there is a group of people who are very sure that they are doing good, but unconsciously they are actually doing damage.

In this day and age when many contradictions that contradict lead people to hate each other, denounce, insult and others, then lean towards directing humans to kill and fight each other.

In the teachings of each religion and belief there are so many differences in interpreting the verses in the scriptures, resulting in the birth of many sects, schools, manage, and others.

Each sect, madhab, manage, et al certainly believe that their group’s interpretation is good and right, it does not matter because humans cannot believe something they think is wrong, but it becomes a very big problem when there are groups of people who insist on understanding  or the interpretation of the truth of their group’s version to other human groups, so that the result of this coercion is, of course, a clash, which if it occurs at the level of debate and discussion is okay, and sometimes good for mutual understanding and understanding, but very dangerous if this coercion  already at the level of disbelieving other groups with different understandings, different interpretations with the group.

So as a result of this disbelief there is a group that does not hesitate to behead men from other groups, make slaves to women from other groups, and then seize their assets, which they believe to be jihad and ‘ibadah.

When they are beheading, slavery and pillaging, this group strongly believes that they are doing good, truth and struggle for and on behalf of God.  When someone reminds them that what they are doing is inappropriate and causes damage, they deny, and they convince the reminder that they are doing repairs, they do not feel and are not aware that they are actually doing damage.

Accompanying the meaning of the first and second verses in this article, the third verse explains that there are groups of people who think they are carrying out God’s commands or in order to manifest worship of God, when in fact what they are doing is in vain, because what they are teaching, doctrine than do it is actually not the teachings of God but it is the teachings or doctrines of man himself.

Among the religious leaders

The type described in the verses above is divided into two groups, namely:

The first group

This religious people think what they are teaching and or doctrine to their people or congregation is the teachings of God, God’s commands, even though he unconsciously and did not feel that he was actually teaching the teachings and doctrines of humans, not the teachings  God. They are good people who are passionate about goodness but still lack reading, lack of confirmation, or too fanatical about madhab and manhaj.

This type can change for the better and more tolerance as well as understandably with more reading and many confirmations from many sources of various schools of thought and manhajs even sources of various religions.

The second group

They fully realize that they are teaching or doctrine human teachings to their people or congregation, they know they are not teaching the teachings of God, but they are hiding behind the holy verses, they cover their personal or group interests with  the holy verses, they are fooling the congregation and its people, they look very pious from the outside, they are evil human beings who are masked by religion.

Some of them do have an establishment in religious scholarship, do have a high academic degree, but the establishment of their knowledge and title are used to fulfill their personal or group lust.

This type is very dangerous because anyone who opposes them, they can be labeled as a religious blasphemer, can be considered hypocritical, can be accused of being infidels, even blood and property can be halted, because they look very pious in appearance and very fluent in conversation.

How to deal with this group, for those who are able and have a well-established argument then counter their arguments, for those who do not have the ability to argue, then stay away from them or report to the authorities or those who have the ability, so that those who have the authority and have the ability can overcome it  .

In the community Level

Also divided into two groups, namely:

The first group

In a state of neither feeling nor knowing nor being aware they were sure they were receiving, listening, reading, watching and downloading the teachings and doctrines of God, they were like this because they were very enthusiastic in learning but their enthusiasm was not accompanied by vigilance, they thought that  that the religion or belief that they believe has only one interpretation, only one understanding, they do not understand or lack knowledge of what is madhab, what is manhaj, they also do not know that they are being fooled, are being directed to fulfill the lust of the masked villain religion, in the end unconsciously slowly the sea they become puppets of the zhalimin who dressed in the shalihin form.

They are good people who are eager to study religion but without caution.  This type can be reduced or prevented or cured by instilling a sense of being always vigilant and not learning from just one source, don’t learn just one understanding, don’t learn just one interpretation, don’t learn from only one group, madhab and manhaj only,  or even don’t just learn from one religion, be enthusiastic in learning but stay alert.

The second group

They are fully aware that they are not accepting, listening, reading, watching and downloading God’s teachings and doctrines, but are accepting, listening, reading, watching and downloading teachings and doctrines from their groups, they are like this because they feel that  the teachings and doctrines that they are carrying out are also in accordance with their lust, they are basically not puppets like the first group of people, but they are criminals too, but because of their lack of power and expertise in deceiving they decide to become followers of criminals who have power  and deceptive skills that are more established than them.

This type is also dangerous because it is usually from this type of executioners who are beheaders and looters come from, this type comes from groups of human heart eaters, from this type comes from humans who openly dare to do rude and brutal in carrying out their group interpretations.

Because groups of this type tend to act harshly and brutally, the way to overcome them is to report to the authorities or those who have the ability, so that those who have the authority and have the ability can handle it.

Conclusion

Indeed the truth is exists, but that was when the holy men still existed in the midst of ordinary people, who if there were misinterpretations could then be directly questioned and corrected by the holy man.

For now, when the holy men receiving God’s revelation are not in our midst, the truth becomes relative, because the truth according to one group is not necessarily the truth for other groups.

Differences in interpretation in understanding the scriptures will not be eliminated or reduced, maybe even will increase, to address this we as humans who certainly do not want to make war the only way out, and also certainly do not want damage to occur on this earth, on  each thing starts to get used to asking the experts and discussing with the experts, which if wrong or incorrect according to the rules of knowledge being studied, it will be straightened out.

Ask about the Qur’an to experts, if you want to know the interpretation of the Qur’an in terms of science of Nahwu then ask the experts in Nahwu, if you want to know the interpretation of the Qur’an from the historical side then ask the historian, if you won’t  know the understanding of the sunnah ask experts from the sunnah, if you want to know the extent of the Shia then ask experts from the Shia, if you want to know about Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, kong hu cu, etc. then ask the experts of these parties, do not ask something that is not an expert, because the results will be far from appropriate according to scientific principles.

Knowledge or knowledge is independent and valuable assets for humans and humanity, personal or group interests certainly exist and will not be lost, but if accompanied by respecting and understanding the personal and group interests of others as his and his group’s interests want to be respected and understood,  then there is no need for disputes that result in division to war.

If both have good goals why don’t they together realize these good goals?  And if you both don’t like damage, then let’s prevent the damage together.

This is for the discussion in this time, my discussion is not enough to tell all the contents of meaning and wisdom contained in the three verses above, but with all the shortcomings, I hope this article is useful for me as a writer and for all readers, if  there are those who want to go deeper into the meaning of the three verses above so ask the experts and discuss with the experts.

May we all always be in awareness and vigilance.

Greetings of peace
